Congrats Cloop! I'm curious what they missed on the form I-693? Was it something that would easily be missed?

After posting that I'm starting to do a little research, and I think I might have completely spaced on completing a form for AOS. I came on a K-1 visa, do you have to include form I-693 and get a CS to sign it...or did my overseas medical and the documentation I got from that (vaccination list) override the need for that?

Either way...my overseas medical is over a year old now, so I'm going to have to complete the I-639 anyway...but I'm curious if I missed a form when submitting the AOS package!

I was wondering the same thing than you being in the exact same case... But when I sent the AOS application, I sent a copy of my vaccination record (DS-3025 or something like that) that I got when did my medical examination back in Canada. So for me that was enough... But back in January I received a letter asking me for a medical examination and vaccination sheet. So I went to a USCIS surgeon and got it done all over again. My medical from Canada was expired anyway since I got it done in December 2014 and received that letter from USCIS in January 2016 so I guess I would have had to do it anyway but I wonder as you are; do we need to get a surgeon filling the form I-693 or something like that for AOS when we come with a K-1 and that we had already our medical done?

Anyway, now it's been a month and a half USCIS received my new medical examination (I haven't received any confirmation from them that they received it but I had it tracked by USPS so I know) and nothing since... Not a single reply from them... I just hope that after all of that (interview potential waiver; re-medical examination, longggg waittttt) that they are not going to schedule me for an interview anyway...

Anyway, hang in there you all!!

Read these 2 links.
If you have the DS3025 copy from the panel physician from your medical in the foreign country see if it is checked as 'complete' / 'waiver'

If complete just wait for a RFE which can happen before during and after the interview.
Some get RFE'ed and some do not.
Most just need vaccinations and not a new medical.

Thanks to everyone!

Now the status is case approved today :content: I really wonder how they manage those updates. Yesterday the card was on production, today my case is approved (it should be the opposite, but it's not the first time that I see the updates pushed in the wrong order).

@-Shana-: the form I-693 had 5 pages (now it has 9 pages because they updated it) and the civil surgeon did just the first and the last page. So they were missing 3 pages, plus a thing on the first page wasn't filled.

The form I-693 is not mandatory, but it's highly recommended to file and a civil surgeon has to do it.

It's needed just to make some research to find a civil surgeon not so much expensive. Here in my city after several calls the prices were from $60 to $300! But I read about people paying just 15-20 dollars (it depends city by city).

Hi, Congrats!

They didn't say anything about the medical being expired? I haven't even gotten an interview date yet, but I know my medical expired this month. i'm wondering if I should just get a new medical done(spending all the money) when I get the interview date so when they do ask for it in the interview, I won't have to worry about getting a RFE or anything.

I would rather get a RFE and wait another week than blow money away.

Thanks! No, they didn't say anything about the medical visit expired (the previous month), but that's up to the officer.

By the way I filed the form I-693 along the form I-485, so when my medical visit was totally valid yet. The problem as I explained was the pages of the form I-693 missing and a thing not filled in a page.

Going deeper about medical visit, form I-693 and civil surgeon, what I seen/understood, the "big deal" are the TB and RPR. I think all of us coming here with a K-1 visa, get those tests done (I got them in my country with the medical visit), but we don't get any record about that (just the form DS-3025 and chest X-ray; well, unless you are positive to those tests). So, even if the fact that no records "means" that the tests were negative and the chest X-ray are a confirmation of negative test results, they want some kind of proof anyway and here they come up the form I-693 (that has a section for those) and the civil surgeon.

Plus, the civil surgeon may try to make you do those tests again not seeing any paper about them, but there is a section on the form I-693 instructions saying that if you got a K-1 (as well as K-2, K-3 and K-4) visa, you are not required to have another medical examination here in the U.S. as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year of an overseas medical examination (because you already had a medical examination prior to admission and of course if the tests were negative...if there are positive records, the things can totally change then). But that could become a big deal if the civil surgeon seems don't trust and wanna give you those tests again anyway (that's the main reason why it took over 3 hours yesterday to get a complete form I-693...I totally had to explain to them how it works and that they had to simply state that I got those tests during the medical visit in my country prior to admission).

The vaccinations are not a problem because they simply copy from the form DS-3025 (and if you miss some, they will do them).

Thanks for the input on the I-639 everyone. I'm going to take Ebunoluwa's advice and wait for an RFE before seeking out a civil surgeon who won't rip me off! I'm expecting one at this point since my medical is over 1 year old.

Cloop, congratulations!!

About the medical, mine was also over a year old. No one mentioned anything and I did not get any RFE for it. Hope everyone who is still waiting will hear back soon.

I guess it's depends the IO who deals with your case. Good to know there's some small hope that I might not get a RFE for their delay!

Edit: Figured I'd add a ticker to my signature to start counting how long it's taking! Fascinating really!

I didn't enter US with K1 visa, so I know I'll have my interview for sure. Should I still wait until the interview to see if they will give a RFE for medical or not?

I went to Infopass and they told me that my case is resolved(I don't know if it's resolved from the RFE I got or the background check I had, probably the background check, though) and the status changed to 'ready to be scheduled for an interview' on 2/29. How long should I expect to wait for the interview?

Personally, I would wait (it's what I am doing!). I'm not even sure how I would go about submitting new paperwork without having an RFE to say exactly what is needed and where to send it. I'm sure it's possible, but I sure would be annoyed if I didn't need to submit new materials like some people have experienced.

Check the processing times of your local USCIS center to get an estimate on when you'll get the interview, it depends on where you live. I've been waiting for 10 months now.

What do you mean by priority date?

Yeah, I know 2 people who came to America at the same time as me and they have their green cards in hand. I'm happy to be here and all, but it would be nice to get this part of the process out of the way. My local office is processing March 2015 cases, haha! I'm pretty sure mine is a June case so 3 months to go, but I'll be moving state in that time so that'll screw things up. Woohoo!
