How do I dial a human at USCIS?

Hi all,

I have the number for USCIS, it's 1-800-375-5283. However, I get dumped into auto-attendant hell and can't get out of it. I have to ask a question about my case that the adjudication officer did not inform me about when I had my interview yesterday, I think he made a mistake concerning my medical and if I need to get something done by a civil surgeon, I want to make sure I am doing what he wants.

How do I reach a human through that line to ask a question about my case? None of the menu options fit my query, and it doesn't even accept my receipt number, it says I don't have enough digits (I have 10, that is all they gave me)

Thanks - any advice on which menu items I should chose to get me to a spot where I enter it and a live human comes out at the other end? None of the options seem to be for people looking for specific info on a case. I have just sent an e-mail (since I had that address from when they have contacted me in the past about issues) but have no idea if they will ignore my request since it wasn't them that initiated this contact.
