First Time Applying for K1 HELP!

Hello All,

I'm starting to fill out my paperwork for my Fiancé's K1 process, I'm in need of help. We are both guys and I'm so excited, but its a lot to do. I'm the petitioner, I live in NY and he's in Dominican Republic. If anyone has done this before in Dominican Republic or a Same sex K1, that would be great! Please help, tips, advice Anything. I need support! We tried getting him a Tourist visa back in August, and it was denied then he got a Contract for a J-1 and he was denied twice in a two weeks period, we are tired of the distance and we decided to do the K1 if anyone could help that would be awesome. Anything is appreciated.

The only difference with a same sex k1 is that you have to include the state you're marrying in with proof that they allow same sex marriage.

Everything else is just like anyone else would do this.

So just follow the guides and you'll be sweeeet ?

Normally I would say because you're New York and your petition would be going to Texas service centre that you have a long wait ahead of you.

But at the moment it seems as though those going to TSC are instead getting routed to he California service centre which processes applications a lot faster, this can be anywhere from a week to two months.

So I'd say aim for 6 months processing, and hopefully it'll be less.
