Typical wait for NOA2?

Hi there,

I'm a bit confused about the typical range in time to wait for the NOA2, after having received the initial receipt notice.

Our documents are at the California Service Centre, where they claim K-1s are being processed in 5 months, according to their website.

On VJ's timelines, Canadians seem to be receiving NOA2s anywhere from a few months to a year, with many being received extremely fast.

USCIS received our Petition package on February 5th. Does this mean the NOA2 could arrive anytime between now and the end of the year?

Second part to my question -- when they review the Petition package (K-1), how do they decide it should be approved? We submitted our forms, plus statement of intent to marry, statement of dates visited, and some photos showing us together in Vancouver various times over the past year or more. How do they make a decision based on this?

Being Canadian has nothing to do with USCIS wait times. It is completely dependent on the service center.

They decide if your K1 should be approved or not if you have met the requirements - met in the last 2 years and intend to marry. In some countries they may want evidence of a relationship but most often that is not the case and that evidence is sent when you adjust your status.
