Unfortunately they will not update you regarding any progress made while you're in Administrative Processing. It is literally just this horrible dark hole of waiting. I called and bothered the embassy on a weekly basis to try to get updates or see if there was more info they needed from us, but it didn't get us anywhere. We were in AP for many many months before his visa was issued. By the time they were ready to issue his visa, his physical exam had expired, so he had to travel all the way back to Jordan to do ANOTHER medical, get the same shots all over again, submit the new medical to the embassy again, then they finally granted the visa. AP is miserable.

I do recommend contacting your congressperson or senator. I wrote to one of my senators and she did a congressional inquiry for me. I don't know for sure if it sped up the process, but he had his visa in hand around the same time that I received a letter back from the senator stating that they had submitted a congressional review. Best of luck!
