NOA1 received. have a question

Good day everyone. so we received our NOA1 yesterday ( april 6th) so the process is finally on the roll.

I have a few questions, mostly for curiosity's sake but also because I just want to make sure I know what is happening.

Brief background my fiancée( USC) and I submitted on the 31st of March. she lives in California, and the receipt said we are being routed to the CSC.

I just wanted to know what role the Lockbox plays, it is purely just to route the mail to the respective service centres or do they actually make sure that everything in the submission is correct? Further more, does one receive RFE's from before the NOA1 or before the NOA2 or could it happen all the way up to interview stage?

Like I said,it is purely because I am curious.

Hope you all had a great weekend and a good start to your week.

all the best.

The lockbox is a routing stop.

When your petition is eventually evaluated, any RFE would come from the CSC.

People dread the idea of an RFE. Receiving one is a golden opportunity to satisfy the RFE and to add extra "evidence of bona fide relationship" for USCIS to pass on to the consulate. (Anyone doing this should add a cover-note to the latter material that says "Please pass to the consulate" or similar.)
