I was following the step by step guide and it states that before NOA2 we should begin gathering documents like financial records and letters from employers, my question is how current do they have to be because if I gather that data now and it's 8 months before approval will they allow the info I collect now or should I wait before gathering it?

You should not gather anything until AFTER the NOA2, not before. The documents should be fairly recent, within a few months. If you start collecting and don't need it for 8 months, you will likely be asked for newer documents.

For the best answers relating to the process in Manila, I suggest you pop over to the Philippines forum, then bookmark the site as your go to page during the visa process in Manila. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

I do not suggest following the guide here on VJ as it is not embassy specific thus not very good for processing at USEM.

Once you have your NOA2 petition approval, then follow the flashing arrow below for detail on the K1 process in the Philippines.
