My wife is pregnant. We are very happy about it. But, we sent in our I-130 package around the middle of February, and she was not pregnant then.

I'm a U.S. citizen, my wife is Japanese. We currently live in Japan. I'll be moving to the U.S. in April.

I assume we will still be in this process when she gives birth later this year. How will this affect the process? Do we just have to get a U.S. passport for the baby?

Also, can I visit Japan when the baby is born?

Many, many thanks.

You will get a crba through an appointment at the embassy I don't know the specifics for Japan but usually the same requirements in general ur a U.S. citizen so the baby will get your u.s. Citizenship if your capable of proving you lived in the u.s. For 5 years 2 of those being after the age of 14 so when you the wife and baby go to the embassy with a few other random forms just have to bring evidence of this and it's as simple as that and you will apply for the passport at the same time . Gets issued after depending on how quick your embassy is at this . Just google the U.S. embassy in Japan's website there should be info on it somewhere there .
