Protesters in Carson City Wednesday stormed the office of newly elected Attorney General Adam Laxalt and then shut down Carson Street in front of the state capitol building and Legislature for more than an hour.

Protestors, many affiliated with the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, demanded that Laxalt withdraw from a federal lawsuit that challenges President Obama's executive action on immigration.

Some state lawmakers called the protest "unprecedented." Protest organizers estimated that the crowd was between 150 and 200 people. Many were bused in overnight from Las Vegas, although other protestors came from the Reno area and from rural Nevada, organizers said.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong then shut down portions of Carson Street to allow the protestors access to the street. Furlong refused to arrest the protestors.

We need these kind of rallies for legal immigration. This is what we are lacking.

It's a clever attempt that's working for them. They send out a few scouts, some of whom leave their wives and children behind. When the scouts arrive in the US, ain't got no documents. So, they are undocumented. Not documented. Scouts that have no documents. Folks from another place, who left others behind, and ain't got ID. No ID people from other places. People from places other than here. Ain't from here, ain't got papers. I'm just a scout, ain't done nothin but scout. I'm a scouter looking for support. Support for scouters. We are people of scouts. Scouts are people too. Scouts phone home. Scouts ok, you okay?
