USCIS Published New Version of Form G-28

The G-28 is getting an update to include more information gathering i.e. biographic data, email addresses and cell phone numbers. USCIS needs to know how to keep in touch with the applicant/petitioner/requestor and therefore requires the G-28. USCIS will send correspondence and secure documents directly to applicant or they will send it to the legal representative and the new G-28 will help to that end. G- 28 is used to inform USCIS of the legal representative in a given circumstance.

Be sure your "legal" representative, if you use one, includes the update form or you will receive an RFE slowing down your process.

You will be Okay. From April 13, 2015, the earlier version of Form G-28 is not valid.

Did you ever consider doing your visa on your own. Hank has a great step by step guide (see the link at the multi-arrows below) that will walk you through the process and if you have any questions you can do just what you are doing now; asking question in VJ. If you continue to use a lawyer/agent you should read it anyways. We find a lot of lawyer/agents are missing forms or are giving applicants, like yourself, the wrong information.

Do an experiment, ask for a copy of the G-28 from your lawyer/agent and see what date is on the G-28 form that they submitted on your behalf. I'd be curious to know the answer.

As they say "knowledge is power".

Yes. I consider it doing on our own. However, it was too late when we found out about this site. But our legal representative is helpful since we had a mistake on filling out the form and he corrected it for us. I think a second person to check will be helpful for us since we both are prone on making mistakes.

I will check the form and come back here. Thank you for the info!
