AOS and serious illness...need GC advice

Anyone reading this, please understand I'm in a state of shock (and Peace :star: ): so I hope I'm coming thru clear. If you can decipher my time line we're between EAD/AP approval and green card. I checked online with State and they received our paper work 2/27/15.

It appears I have been diagnosed with an 'agent orange' related cancer; in two weeks I meet with my oncology team in Boston. I've heard about 'emergency expediting' Green Card petitions, but I'm in a fog as to how I should proceed...?

The second issue is getting my wife a drivers license, She filed and was issued a SS card in her maiden name. We went to the DMV with all our documentation to get her a driving learners permit and was told all the documentation was in order except her SS card. She was told to go to the SS and apply for a card in her married name. She applied 2/14 and was told call back in a few days, then 'keep checking'...nothing yet. Getting her drivers license is critical, as I might be spending a lot of time at the hospital and she would be home alone without a means of transportation. Sorry for combining questions but the clock is ticking...

Thanks,

Rob

My apologies, but I do not believe your wife will qualify for an expedite due to you being ill. If it were her, you would certainly have a case to try.

It's important that you realise that if the absolute worst were to happen, your wife would still be able to obtain permanent residency through being an immediate relative (widow) of a US citizen. I dislike going there, and I have no idea on your condition, and indeed hopefully this is something you will beat. I wanted to make sure you knew that a path remains open to her though, even were something to happen to you.

Provided she has her EAD in her newly-married name then she can obtain a new social security card in that name.
