Bio Father's name not on Birth Certificate - Question???

Hi ,

My husband (US citizen) just filed for my daughter in Jamaica. But her biological dad (true to his deadbeat ways) was not present for her naming as an infant and his name does not appear on her birth certificate (in space of father's name it says "Nil") only my name appears on it. Will I need permission from him to have her join us in the US, when we are approved? Thank you for responding you guys.

P.S. She lives with my mom and has never been active in her life and care giving.

No you wont need his permission....once BC says...nil / null/ not stated that clearly tells there is no father for the child.

Just a piece of advice , don't let the father know that she is going through immigrant process before he do anything to cause problem

Hey there Tashired,

Congrats on the approvals !

I'm in a similar situation.

Did you include his name on any of the application forms when they asked for father's name ?

I'm wondering if since he is not on the birth certificate if I should leave his name off the forms entirely :/
