I simply think that US citizenship is given out too easily and cheaply.

And there is even fee waiver if you can't afford the fees. -_-

My wife will be eligible for citizenship soon and we keep teasing each other back and forth about it. I keep telling her becoming an American citizen will be a big upgrade from being a Canadian citizen and she tells me no way is she going to be a US citizen, as soon as I croak she's high tailing it back to Canada. Of course becoming a citizen varies in importance to each person depending upon their background.

I would imagine a good amount of the hatred is based in jealousy of what people have here. There are many people who feel they are owed these things simply for breathing. Even the poorest of lives in the US is better than those in many other countries. They despise the people who have what is nearly impossible for them to obtain. I'm sure a lot of the hatred is also based on the US foreign policies abroad that make these people feel like the US is using them for it's own gain, which in some cases it is.

That may be true and nothing can be done about that other than working your butt off. Our country is replete with guys that started off as dish washers and now own multiple restaurants etc., the opportunity exists for everyone to take advantage of. But, if you never learn to speak English, have a good work ethic, then not much will happen. It also has to do with core family values. Two different groups of immigrants, one from the South, one from the East. First/second generation from the South have a 50% drop out rate from high school. From the East, well, scientists, doctors, etc. with most attaining post graduate degrees. If the don't like some of our questionable foreign policies, why come here and hate us?

My wife just wants the passport so it will making traveling easier for us. Same thing, when I'm done she's home. While she may attain U.S. citizenship, she will always be Thai, first and foremost.

When you come from a country with nothing, good work ethics are hard to come by. What's there to work for? That's one of the reasons there's so much fighting and hatred in the middle east, there's nothing else to do. So they come here any way they can simply to obtain what they could never have in their homeland and they get it any way they can. All the while still despising us for what we have.

Oh I get it. So when there are no jobs, then people invent games like, "Who can chop off more heads" and "My god can beat up your god" and "Kill everyone in the other village."

Wow. We need to get right on fixing that problem. I wonder who has the solution? None other than 0bozo and his merry men!

It doesn't sound mysterious at all. Makes perfect sense. In that universe, those who have less are not responsible for what they do. Those who have more caused those who have less to grow up with poor self concepts, which evolve into violence, and worshiping gods like muhammed, and YHWH, Jehovah, and Aladdins Discount Clothing Store.

And I hate to say it but, under certain dictators, as ruthless as they may have been, the area prospered. They don't think of democracy as we do. Better to prosper, raise your family and have some liberties restricted or, fear a car bomb or being shot every time you step out of your house, sporadic electricity and basic supplies, crumbling/non-existent infrastructure? Ok, so we want to help the rebels overthrow Assad, what then? How many factions will be fighting for control further destroying the country? Yemen is down, Jordan is getting a little nervous. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait give pause to think. Oman and UAE watching intently and Israel is on the pick and roll. Obama's Arab spring is turning into an Arab hell and destabilizng Iraq certainly set the stage.

Conceded. Nevertheless, the answer was not to create a power vacuum to enable the enemy.

When your enemy changes on an almost daily basis, I'm not so sure if there was an answer that wouldn't do just that. I'm not making excuses, but the middle east was a much more stable place with Saddam in charge.

I agree with you. However, pulling out all the troops and leaving a power vacuum that enabled radical islam to breed like rabbits was an even bigger mistake.

The ME was and remaing a powder keg. Bush Boy didn't think twice before lighting the fuse and walking away. I however blame the Iraq invasion solely on Obama. It's all his fault.
