i-864 question, low income

With a 2-person household income of $20k (USC student with part-time job, and self-employed immigrant spouse, so no US tax documents, but continuing source of income), and $5k cash assets... how likely is it we'll get hit with an RFE for a joint sponsor if we try to get a CR-1? We pass the 125% guideline with our combined income (which the instructions says can be combined in the i-864 form, as the petition is for a spouse), but just barely, and we do not know anyone who could joint sponsor. We'd be in a tough spot and probably just have to abandon the whole application if that were to happen.

We have everything we need, just not a joint sponsor... it's really frustrating :(

Would appreciate if anyone could give us an idea of whether we should try it anyway, or if it would be a waste of money to even try it without a joint sponsor. Thanks

03/16/2016 (Day ???) - Interview and approval
03/22/2016 (Day ???) - Green Card received! All done for 2 years :)

Yep, I work remotely in graphic design and can get my clients to write a letter saying they will continue to do business with me.
