Hello,

So on Friday, I finally arrived in Orlando on my K-1 visa. Yay! :) I gave the Immigration officials at Orlando Sanford International Airport (which is tiny and understaffed) the necessary envelopes for them to open (I had two open-corner manila envelopes instead of one, probably because we had sent USCIS so much info in advance). Everything was in order, they asked me a few easy questions (more conversational than anything else), gave me some additional information (verbally, no papers) and sent me on my merry way.

However, they did tell me that the papers they had just opened would be sent on straight to the CIS office right there in Orlando, yet I am sure I read that my AOS documents and forms need to be mailed to Texas. My question is: Is this normal? Do they send the documents they receive from you at the airport to a local office so they can later be joined by the AOS documents that you first mailed to Texas? Or is there a way for me to bypass Texas and send my AOS documents straight to the local office?

Sorry, I'm a bit confused here. If anyone knows how these things are usually done in Florida, that would really help me.

Thank you very much in advance! :luv:

Yes it is normal. They collect the sealed envelope(s) and send them to immigration where they will be processed. Your AOS, once you get married, is an entirely new and different process, in that there will be new forms to fill out and file.

Check out the K-1 flow in the link below:

Good luck!
