Customs pre-clearance in Toronto?

Craig is going to be here a week from TODAY. EEK!

I have a question about customs.

He's flying from Thunder Bay (no pre-clearance) to Toronto, and then onto Indy.

He'll go through customs at Toronto, correct?

Anyone have any POE experiences from Toronto-Pearson?

Will he have to go through any sort of customs thing again at Indy? Or will he just be arriving like any other domestic flight?

Thanks kids! :)

He's flying from Thunder Bay (no pre-clearance) to Toronto, and then onto Indy. Correct and why would there be it is an internal Canadian flight.

He'll go through customs at Toronto, correct? Not only customs but immigration as well

Anyone have any POE experiences from Toronto-Pearson? Good source is to look at the POE reviews

Will he have to go through any sort of customs thing again at Indy? Or will he just be arriving like any other domestic flight?

That is the purpose of pre-clearance.

YMMV

All you do at Toronto is fill out the I-94 form, they're hiding to ask an employee where to find them, then fill that out with the regular customs declaration form, and hand it all over to the guy at the kiosk/wicket and they process the K visa right there (they did when I went thru anyhow). Takes about 5 minutes, and AFAIK, they don't normally take you into secondary, but leave a bit of extra time between flights so you don't miss your connection.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

My husband entered on a K-3 exactly 2 weeks ago at Pearson. It was a Sunday ... uneventful ... the whole thing took about 20 minutes.

The officer did not know how to process the visa and had to ask someone else, who looked it up in a book. Yes, they take you into a room for secondary inspection.

Be sure he gets the I-94 form put into his passport because you'll need it later to adjust status (AOS) and apply for work authorization (EAD).

I'm always a Nervous Nelly, and told him to allow an extra hour and half, on top of the extra security time that's the new normal. As a result, he spent most of the day at the airport reading a book!

Oh yes, tell him to eat well beforehand or he'll be paying $8.00 for a nasty cheese sandwich.

I think you're just asking questions for the fun of it and to steady your nerves. :)

Canada-U.S. flights have U.S. customs & immigration on the Canada end of the trip, presumably to lessen the workload given how many Canadians and Americans travel back and forth. So then, for the purposes of immigration, at least, the flight from Toronto to Indianapolis will be just like a normal domestic flight.

Tons of PoE experiences listed.
