Can anyone tell me if me the US citizen has to provide my police records with a current stamp or can I use the documents I received from when the case was dismissed that are stamped? They are certified but from years ago.

Another question for when I send the packet and provide phone records do I have to send all 14 pages for each month? Or can I just send the page where it shows my account and then the phone record not the blank pages, or bill details of what I am charged?

How thick are these packages usually when you finally have everything ready to send? Anyone ever measure with a ruler?

Also I see some things have change with submitting original birth certificates. Is this still true? Can I send a copy of my birth certificate? Or does it need to be a certified copy? even if you can see the original seal/stamp on the photo copy?

Last question - when translating documents can anyone translate them or does it need to be notarized? I am having the birth certificate and his divorce documents translated to english. Do they need to be certified? Or can a friend of mine who speaks, reads, and writes spanish translate them for me?

I think the police records is only for beneficiaries, the US citizens do not need to submit the police record. If NVC or USCIS want to find about your police record they can find it with your SSN/BD.

I would send all the pages of the phone records

Yes, now you can send copies of documents. More info on the following link http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/policy_updates/National%20_Visa_Center_No_Longer_Collecting_Original_Civil_Documents_November_2014.pdf

Here is info about the translation of docs on the following links http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html

Can't help with the court documents as I don't know the answer.

I would err on the side of caution and send copies of the whole bill.

I sent a 1" binder and it was FULL. I don't think I could have fit more than a few more sheets of paper in it. I'll need a bigger binder for her to bring to the interview. It didn't fit in a priority mail envelope. I had to use a flat-rate box to send it.

From what I have read, copies are fine and that is what I sent. If they want to see originals they can always send an RFE.

The rules on translation are pretty simple. The translator needs to certify that they are competent to translate. We used a service to translate my SO's Hungarian divorce decree because of the legal jargon but based on the rules I think we could have used a neutral third party. Now if we wanted something translated to Hungarian for the Hungarian government that would be a different story. The government there has an official translation office that you are required to use.
