Our Adjustment Of Status Interview Experience

I and my husband took our son with us in the interview. Our appointment was yesterday @ 11 am, we arrived at the place almost 11 o'clock. At the intrance, there was a guard who inspect for ID's before going into the building, because my ID (passport) already expired, my husband had to go in first to confirm our interview appointment, while I was outside, one of the guards came out and told me that I could come in, too. When me and my son came into the building, I could see a large waiting area that was almost empty, we had to undergo a metal detector first and after that the guard told me to proceed to this another person, that was waiting while standing (I had no idea that he was the officer that will interview us) my husband approached him first, he shook our hands and told us that he's the officer who would do the interview then he led us again to this second waiting area (not as large as the first), and told us to wait. There were 1 couple waited and few individuals, there were surveillance cam in the room. After a few minutes, the officer came back and called my name.

As we entered the door, he guided us in one of the small rooms (lots of small rooms inside). When we get into the officer's office, he asked us to raise our right hands, and swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth (my husband said "yes" and I said "I do") then we sat down. Because our son was with us, the officer told our son that the crayon and the coloring book in the table was for him. The officer was so nice and you would not feel nervous which really helped me feel comfortable talking. Then the question and answer began. First he asked for our ID, and took the copy that we made, then asked if I applied for EAD (which I wasn't, so I said no). The questions he asked were: how, when and where did me and my husband meet, why and how did we decide to get married, who contacted first, If did go to college, if so, what school, what was our new address (then he acknowledged about the first appointment interview that was sent to our previous address and he made sure that our new address is the address that they have on the file), then he asked for our new lease agreement. He also asked questions that were in the i-485 forms. Then he asked my husband few things like: about his job, about what school did he go and what degree. So we answered everything truthfully. :-) It felt like it was just a normal conversation coz when we laugh the officer laugh, too. LOL. By the way, he wrote our answers in a piece of paper and attached it to the folder with the rest of the informations, so be sure to answer everything truthfully. It seemed like he has been reviewing our application coz when we answered his questions he would tell he saw it in our file. Like when my husband mentioned about his previous job which was almost 5 yrs ago, the officer said "yeah, I saw it in the file.

Then all of a sudden he told us that what will I be getting is a 10yr greencard since me and my husband are married for over 2 years and that we can apply citizenship after 3 yrs. So when he said that, I was soo happy coz that means he approves our application. :-) :-) :-) HURRAY!!! When everything was done, he told us that we will received the greencard 10-30 days then told us that's it, he even walked us and open the door for us. Thankful that the IO was so nice.

I am soo happy that everything went well. The interview was such an amazing experience, though there were a few bumps in the road before I reached to this point, it was all worth it. Huge thank you for this website and to its members coz you guys are a part of our visa journey and your posts and comments were such a huge help. I couldn't believed that I have done this successfully without hiring a lawyer and that is because of this website. My advice is to be yourself and answer all the questions truthfully, and just show it to the IO that you're not nervous. :-) :-) :-)
