N400 application:

5/28/2014: application received

12/22/2014: called USCIS to request an interview reschedule (original interview date: 1/22/2015)

1/10/2015: received a confirmation letter from the field office, saying that they will honor my request, and I will receive a new interview notice, etc, just the routine stuff. However, in the letter they listed some key information about my application, including receipt number, A number, filing date, etc. The filing date shows 12/16/2014, which is not my real filing date. 12/16/2014 is when they set my original interview date (I found that out from my online status). Does that matter or should I try to contact USCIS to correct it?

Honestly, I don't think it matters all that much. If the mistake had listed a date that was before your eligibility date, then I would be very worried because they could look at it and say "this applicant applied too early". However it seems that their mistake lists an application date that this well after the date that you actually applied The worst that can happen is that they'll say "oh well this applicant didn't apply all that long ago so we don't have to be in a rush to schedule the interview" So again worst case it could cause a delay of a couple of weeks but I don't think calling and trying to get it fixed it's worth the effort.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if it is a mistake or normal (i.e., USCIS change the filing date for rescheduled applicants). So you think it IS a mistake? If so I thnik it's necessary to correct it.

Sounds like a mistake to me. It doesn't say initial interview date xx... It says filing date xx and that filing date is wrong. You can try to correct it if you want, but I don't see how it could make any difference.

When you go in for your interview you can confirm that they have the right date on file.

Bring it up at your upcoming interview.

If I had an upcoming interview I wouldn't be worried about this small error!

Anyway, I don't have the new interview date yet, and I'm worried if the wrong filing date will delay my interview date, because my actual filing date is 7 months earlier than the wrong filing date on the letter.

This is clearly bothering you, so why don't you call them and try to explain the mistake?

If that doesn't work, make an Infopass appointment.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it, but at this point those are your options.
