Hey everyone, I apologize if this has been asked in the forum already, but I just got an RFE in the mail this evening and tomorrow is Saturday with the post office closing early, so I want to act quickly, but properly.

My RFE was about the silliest thing, I didn't check "No" for the three checkboxes on the second to last page of the I-129f where it asks if you've ever been convicted of various crimes. The rest of the section seemed to be about army service etc so I assumed the section didn't apply to me. I even compared my form against examples a number of times, and didn't catch it. Oh well.

In any case, they sent me a blue RFE cover sheet that basically just says "read the attachment for what to submit" and a due date. The attachment is more than just a list of what's missing, it looks like they were being nice and just wrote out that single question, with an option for me to check Yes or No, and then sign it. It does mention in some random places something about submitting originals vs photocopies, but I am thinking that is just boilerplate text. They included a pre-addressed small envelope to the service center, which implies that I could just send back this form as opposed to the entire I-129F filled out and signed again. Any thoughts?

I've included images of the sheets if you want to review.

P.S, I had originally put Goleta, CA as my birth city on the I-129f, because I was born in Goleta Valley Hospital, which is currently the city of Goleta (it became a city in 2002, and I think was considered kind of a suburb just outside of Santa Barbara, CA, an unincorporated area before that, but I always knew it as "Goleta") I realized my birth certificate reads Santa Barbara, CA (which I included in my application), do you think this will cause any issues and I should re-submit the I-129f, or can they figure it out/it would cause more confusion to try to update it?

Thanks everyone!

Hi

Exactly the same happened to my fiancé. Just tick the NO option and don't forget to sign it. Send the form back together with the blue RFE cover using the pre-addressed envelope. I also recommend to make a copy of everything you send in case you need it later. In our case the CSC approved our petition a couple of days later.

The text about submitting of originals/copies is if you need to tick Yes. In this case the USCIS needs additional information about your crimes.

I don't know about your birth certificate but I guess they would have already mentioned this in the RFE. So I it should be fine.

Cheers

Marco
