Hello,

I have just got my immunisation records from my doctor and it shows I had three Pertussis shots when I was a baby.

Do I need to get another Pertussis shot or are the shots I got as a baby fine?

I know I need my Tetanus and Diphtheria shots boosting, but just wanted to check if I needed the Pertussis as on the K1 guide it says: "If you have a record of receiving pertussis, then the Td is okay for the booster."

Any information would be most helpful.

Thanks.

Hello,

The vaccine you received as a baby for pertussis is no longer proving immunity. You need to get it again. If you get the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) immunization you will get coverage for all 3 diseases in 1 shot.

You will need boosters throughout your life for these if you want to stay up to date. There are tons of pertussis cases in the USA and its easy to catch. California had almost 10,000 cases in 2014.

Good luck

Adriana

The examining doctor calls the shots on this. Present him or her with whatever records you have, he or she decides what shots you need, and the decision is final and not reviewable by anybody.
