Interview in LA instead of Manila?

My friends (USA) wife (from Manila) who are married and living in the USA said that I can request my fiance have her interview in Los Angeles instead of Manila. She said we can apply for a temp visa to come to the USA and have her interview here.

Has anyone heard of this? I have not yet applied for the K1 Im just getting the paperwork together.

I don't see how that would be possible; K-1's need to be issued at consulates/embassies which by definition are outside US.

It may be possible to have an interview in another consulate/embassy (such as London, Montreal, etc.) however.

Unfortunatly the interview cannot be done in the states - it has to be in the country of the non us fiance. If it was possible to have the interview in the states, I'm sure that almost all K1 interviews wouldbe conducted in the states as it would mean not having to be apart for such a long time x

True; however, living in another country (as temp-worker or student) qualifies it for "residence" for consular purposes.

Not quite on the same topic but....

For my (employment) GC interview, I asked if I could have it done in London; as I had never lived in UK, the answer was "no" which meant I had to do so at Montreal.

Gentle Reader michael_d is being advised by a well-meaning friend to forget the K1 visa. He is being advised to have his fiancee come to the USA as a tourist, then marry and apply for adjustment of status.

michael_d - this is not the best of ideas. People doing what you are being advised to do is the reason why your fiancee is not going to be able to get a tourist visa anyway. The consular officers in Manilla are not stupid.

as far as I know that the interview will took place where the beneficiary is residing or what country they are residing.

Yhea, there is no way that they can have their interview in USA. All kindof visa should be release from where the benificiary is residing.
