wow, thats amazing! looks like everything is getting better and better for you! i didn't know it was even possible for this. what are the requirements for them to come for a visit? what do they look for? i would love his family to come to our wedding here!

They look to make sure the applicant has ties to their home country/ country of residence that would compel them to return after a temporary visit to the U.S. This can be done with bank statements, job statements, etc. For us, since his mom doesn't have a job outside the home, she went to this guy (don't know his name) who's in charge of their district in Morocco. He's some type of official who's supposed to know about all the people in that community. They had him write a paper saying that she needed to come back to take care of her mom, who's ill. She also brought a bank statement. I wrote a letter saying she was going to stay with us while she was here, and we sent a copy of the invitation. They later asked for my bank statement too. That was really about it. They also need to apply online and pay $100 for the visa application fee.

We basically just followed the instructions on the website for the consulate. Good look trying to get them visas too!

I am so glad that you shared this event and I am happy that you made it through Casa again. I wonder what type of wedding are you planning? I am so happy for you, what is so great about this is when you have a baby she gets to come and help if she wants.

We're planning a civil service wedding with spiritual undertones (I think that's what you're asking about the type of wedding?) It's going to be outside with a female minister. We're planning for around 200 people.

I hope she can come back when my baby's due (in September)! But I don't know if there are any restrictions on how frequently a person can get a tourist visa??

I do not think it is how many times but how long, I know 6 months is the longest they can stay. Are you going to do the wedding cake, that is my favorite part. You will not believe how many cake places I went too.

Oh yeah, we're doing a wedding cake! I think our wedding cake cost more than twice the cost of my dress! We're doing pretty much everything: dollar dance, bouquet toss. I'm not so sure about the garter toss though (he doesn't like kissing in public, much less undressing!)

funny you say that. my fiance and i were talking about weddings last night and he said he would kiss me in front of everyone because he knows its our tradition but he's really embarrassed about it! ;) i plan to have about 100 or 120 people. depends...it doesn't sound likely he could get his mom a visa to come here. i'll wait and worry about that until after i get HIM here! hehe

i can't wait to plan my wedding. too bad you aren't in NY or i'd do your cake for you! congrats again!

Liz how long is her visa for? She can stay up to six months per visit, but that doesnt determine how long its valid for. Hopefully she got a 5 year visa.

It's a 6 month visa. But does that mean she can just reapply for a new one for September/October? Her visa's good until July, but she'll only stay until May.

Congratulations and thanks for the info. Youssef and his brother are going to take his mom to casa next month to try and get a tourist visa for her. We don't have a wedding or anything but we do have a new baby and I'm hoping that will be a good enough reason for Casa to let her come. The info about the district guy is good too - I will for sure tell the guys that and hopefully they can see about something. Congratulations!

Congrats on the happy news. It's so nice she'll be able to be there for the wedding. :)

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Wow, congratulations!! If you don't mind me asking what she had to provide showing ties to Morocco ensuring she will return when her stay is over.

Well please be sure to share your photos. I love looking at weddings and dress. Do you have a dressed pick out and what are you colors? For mine I want the decor to have orange, green, and white. It is my son, my fiance, and my favorite colors.
