Hey everyone!

(You guys post such interesting topics- :) - I wish my question was as interesting… :P )

I know, I know… this is NOT immigration related… BUT…

I decided to apply for grad school, and I have found myself in a dilemma… I do not have the 3 academic letters of recommendation from professors that the university is asking for. I never kept in touch with any of my profs from college… Anyone have any advice on who to obtain the letters from?

Thanks everyone!

-Vane

To answer your question, it would depend on the kind of program you're applying to. Is it a professional one like an MBA or research-based (PhD en route to a career in academia)? If you're looking to enter the former, you could ask former employers for letters of recommendation which can speak to your ability in the field. However, if you're applying for a PhD, those letters will need to come from faculty who can assess your ability to work in research etc. You may want to contact your college professors and remind them of who you are, what you've done since graduation, what you did during college (grades, research, internships etc.) and what you're planning to do after grad school. I hope this helps!
