Well it seems to me that many of the posters don't have realistic expectations.

Looks more like a 'drive thru' type of mentality to me.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

I think its easy to have high expectations when so many other people on here are reporting CSC transfers. Its also easy to get frustrated when people report getting their green cards in 60 days from application and suchlike. A healthy dose of reality can be had by looking at the timelines features on this site.

I agree. It also doesn't help to compare yourself to those who have timelines similar to yourself (like Miranda&James said).

How I interpreted the "average" timeline was like this (just by looking at other people's timelines on their signature NOT the timelines feature on this site):

- NOA1 within 2 weeks of Chicago having received the applications

- biometrics appointment in 2 weeks to 1 month of NOA1

- interview letter within a month or so of the biometrics appointment

- interview appointment within 2-3 months of getting the interview letter

- greencard in your hands within 1-2 months of the interview

That totals around 6 months... the average time I have read it takes for AOS. So I would say that is pretty realistic. It's when people start getting close to or past the "average" timelines that they start getting their panties in a bunch (like my #######-retentive self).

With all that being said, guess what I got in the mail this afternoon? My interview letter. And they've fixed my name too. Hahaha. I can laugh at myself now for getting worried over nothing!

I know that hearing complaining from those who have recently filed is irritating to those who have been waiting for a year or more, but this whole process is fraught with anxiety, it's natural to be worried, and I don't think there's anything wrong with people expressing that. Threads like this one also help people who have filed around the same time to compare their processes and alleviate some fears when they see that they're in the same boat. That's part of what VJ is all about right? Sarcasm is unkind and unnecessary.

Sarahsmiles, when one has been waiting a long while, once in a while the only way to deal with it is to blow off steam.

I need to try and stay on top of trends in AOS. I do that by staying in this forum. In turn it's necessary for me to read about people whizzing past me. Most days I'm okay with that. IMO it never hurts for the rest of the crowd to take a look at those of us left behind. If I'm to read about their good fortune, then they can read about our story. It's just a healthy dose of reality.

I know, rebeccajo, and really I don't fault anyone for that. It just bothers me when people (not you, BTW) seem to set out to make other feel small on this forum. We are supposed to be supporting each other. Sorry, but I can't help it, it's in my blood (I'm a therapist ;) ).
