Could anyone advise me on the best way to get a visa for my son to come and visit me from the Ukraine. I am a permanent resident and live with my American husband. I would like to offer my 22 year old son the opportunity to see America and possibly attend school.

Jeff (Palm Beach Gardens) Elena (Kharkov, Ukraine)

Does he have a college degree? If you want him to study in US and have college degree, applying for grad school is not that difficult. (definitely easier than AOS application).

I first came here in US for grad school, took GRE exam as well as TOEFL, then sent applications to universities and got accepted. I entered on F-1 Visa, approval right after visa interview). I intended to go back home after I graduate until I met my husband. :)

I know you can also apply to undergrad (if that is your son's intention) and you can also enter as F-1 but I am not familiar with the requirements for undergrads. Because for me, my tuition and stipend are all provided by school so approval is fast. Maybe for undergrad, you need to show income to support your son's studies.

This is just one path - there's also J-1 (exchange students), Look at student visas available that will best suit your son's intentions.
