Hello everyone,

We are preparing the supporting documents for I-134. I am the petitioner (USC) and I am retired. I receive Social Security and pension plus other income. Just Social Security itself is already above 125% poverty line and it is taxable and it shows up on tax return.

Right now we have 2013 Tax return, 1099 for Social Security and pension, 2013 IRS tax return transcript. Do we still have to provide other supporting documents? Some people told me "benefits letter for the Social Security" and "Pension statements" are necessary too. Is that true? What documents on earth do we need?

Thank you guys!

The 1099s for the SS and pension incomes should be enough proof along with the tax transcript. You only need a copy of your 2013 return or an IRS transcript. No need for both. You can get the SS benefits letter and some other documentation for the pension income, but the 1099s really should show exactly what you earn in a year from those. If the incomes were non-taxable, I would suggest providing 6-12 months of bank statements to show the exact amounts you receive per month, but doesn't seem needed if your incomes are documented on your 1099s and tax return. It is up to you. Adding more and whatever you can will not hurt at all, and could only possibly help.
