$400 for NOA2 HARDCOPY!!!

We got approved last August and still waiting for my interview. K1

I've heard from a friend who is now in USA that USCIS is charging them $400 for the NOA2 hardcopy. NOA2 hardcopy is needed for filing of AOS after marriage. I couldn't believe it myself so I asked my fiance to call the USCIS and follow up our NOA2 hardcopy since we haven't received it yet.

To my dismay fiance informed me that the USCIS is charging him the same fee $400 for it.

Anybody experienced the same thing?

is there anything we can do rather than paying for it?

Thank you.

NOA-2 doesn't cost anything.

How did you receive information that your case was approved? E-mail or a letter through the postal service?

If you didn't receive NOA-2 you can call USCIS to find out if the NOA-2 was sent. If it was sent verify the address is correct and request it be sent again.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think a copy of the NOA-2 is a requirement to file the AOS. The VJ guide says to send a copy but the actual USCIS instructions don't mention it. They require a copy of the beneficiary's passport bio-metrics page, K-1 visa and entry stamps. This makes sense as why would they ask for a copy of an approval letter on a case # that they approved.

In the I-485 Instructions

10.Evidence of Eligibility

B. Based on admission as K-1 Fiance(e) of a US citizen and subsequent marriage to that citizen.

Attach a copy of fiance(e) petition approval notice, a copy of your marriage certificate and Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Document.

It is referring to the NOA2 copy.

OP, please read this thread. No need to pay $400 plus fee for the NOA2 copy.

Thank you so much for commenting.

We received our approval on email. We haven't received the hardcopy yet.

But you got the point and thank you for explaining.

Thank God we havent give any payment yet.

Thank you so much for posting link to where I can get more information.

I am relieved and so happy that finally, it won't be worthy to pay $400 just for a piece of paper.

It won't only save my fiance but to 5 people i've known who is now in the middle of gathering documents to file AOS without their NOA2 hardcopy.

GREAT HELP!!!!!

Thank you so much again!!!
