USPS Lost Documents???

My mom sent me hers and dad's Affidavits of Support, along with two letters that needed their signatures, on November 5th. She sent it the most expensive way, USPS Priority Mail Express International ($46), and it had a guaranteed delivery date for Tuesday the 11th. Of course it had a tracking number and this is what it reads so far...

It says on their website to contact them (which we did yesterday) if it hadn't been received by the guaranteed delivery date. The postal courier just came through half an hour ago and, again, nothing in sight. Germany's not that big of a country for there to be any reason it takes over two days to travel from the airport to the Deutsche Post sorting facility and into a courier's van.

I'm so depressed about this since it's the ONLY thing holding us back from sending off our Packet 3 response to Frankfurt.

Has anyone had similar experiences with USPS?

Of course, we've had the same experience here One time it was lost for 2 weeks due to the Deutsche Post being on a strike, and the other time it got misplaced at the airport. But the packages still arrived!

The problem is this: As soon as the mail gets to Germany, Deutsche Post takes the order over from USPS. BUT: It is not considered express delivery here because the fees you paid only cover that for the US, but not for German territory So that's why it could take 1-2 more days until you receive your mail. Have you tried entering the tracking number on the DHL or Deutsche Post website? Their tracking sometimes shows more information about the destination/status than the USPS one.

We've used FedEx Express ever since that happened to us. They've never failed us so far.

Does my USPS tracking number work on the DP website?

Good to see you had the same issues as well. Though, I hope they don't go on strike tomorrow, haha, wow...2 weeks! I'll still be happy though as long as it isn't lost.

Strawberry....you're just amazing. I put it in and it shows DHL has it instead of the Deutsche Post. (kinda weird since all the other times it was the DP that delivered my mom's packets)

It reads that the stupid Zoll has it now. What could possibly be so suspicious about 14 pieces of paper?!?! Whatever, at least I know where it is and can sleep tonight knowing it didn't fall off of some truck, lol.

Aww, my pleasure I figured customs still had it, they always do It usually takes them 1-2 days to screen and release everything. Just keep tracking it with DHL and you'll be informed about every tiny little sorting facility there is

And go figure, it happened to us when I wanted to register us for the court and church wedding. I was freaking out!

Oh no joke, that'd be even worse. Even in our teenie-tiny village the wedding slots were flying away like crazy! I was so surprised thinking "oh, yeah...I'll take the July 4th spot" and then the office clerk told us it was booked, along with the two other 'back-up' dates we had planned. lol, whatever, we got married, though be it on a random date, so that's what matters!

I had this exact thing happen with the I-129F post-approval packet that I sent to my Fiancee in Germany. It was 5 weeks after I sent it, so I assumed it was lost. I built another complete packet & mailed it as fast as possible through USPS. It arrived like 1.5 weeks later. & then my original packet showed up a few days after that.

It STILL shows as being in German customs!!! What the §$%&$ could be taking so long to check up on?!

So, I sent an email to the exact customs unit that had my packet for the past 3 days and wrote them how infuriated I was that they were holding a priority package for so long. That was about 4.5 hours ago. I just now refreshed my DHL tracking status to find that my packet has left customs and been sent to the final sorting facility for delivery tomorrow. What a coincidence?

Hahaha good job!! I don't know what kind of issues they have with official documents coming from the US. Our package for the wedding contained his original birth certificate, statement of no impediment, etc. Not really a threat to public safety or some illegal import

I had that same happened to me with packages.

The last one stayed disappeard from Oct. 6th until Nov.6th. My husband did a research through USPS and they said I should contact DHL since they have major problems lately with German DHL messing up their packages.

I sent an email and within two days it was delivered without getting an answer to my email.

That was the 3rd time it happened to me: no delivery and suddenly after contacting them it arrived.

Strange, since I am sitting 35km from Hamburg, and an hour from their main sorting facility here in Schleswig-Holstein. So I guess they are not very accurate with their scanning nor their delivery.
