sputum Culture Result @SLEC

Hi, today is the 7 weeks for my Dad's sputum culture. I called SLEC and they said no more result yet. I'm just wondering if there is a chance that the sputum culture is negative?

yes, not everybody has active TB so negative result will be possible. My mom did her Medical exam last April, x-ray result showed scarring on her lungs (she has history of TB 20yrs ago) so she must undergo sputum exam. so she did, waited until July to call SLEC, it was negative, then she proceed to the rest of medical examination processing then interview. She is here now in the USA for almost 3months already.

Read some posts here that there is a big chance the result is negative if no call from them until the 8th week. Did they tell you it will be 9th week instead of 8 weeks since cos of supplier issue? They called me on my 7th week (last week) to inform that I will call on the 9th week for the result.

They told me to call again on the 26th.. so that's the 9th week

Hi, today was supposed to be the last day of my sputum culture. However, I received a call from St. Lukes and they told me to that they will extend it for another week as they need to run some test on it. Would you know the reason why they need to extend it?

Doesn't matter the reason, just need to be patient.. you will be past this soon
