Malaysian Police Clearance Certificate Validity

So we applied for K1 fiancee visa, submitted all relevant documents for the petition two months back. Last week we received letter that petition have been approved and will be forwarded to the NVC. My dilemma is: when should I be applying for my Malaysian Police clearance certificate? (since it is required for the visa interview). Do the certificate have a validity period? From what I have gathered, it took about 2 months for the certificate to be processed. What I'm afraid is that my certificate would expire before the visa interview (I have no idea at all when they would schedule for it either!).

Little advice, please?

The Malaysian police clearance valid for 6 months from the date they approve, you have to apply online www.kln.gov.my. The processing time is between 2 weeks to 2 months depending . I got my approval in one day time but the only problem I have was , I need to print out the approval letter , go to Malaysia High comm in Singapore to make payment , 3 days later then I can collect my police clearance .

If you are in Malaysia, you may go to Wisma Putra, Putrajaya consulate counter to get instant print out. You need to bring along

1) Acknowledgement approval slip

2) Passport copy

3) Original passport

4) Payment of RM20 per copy ( You may ask to print more then one copy)

Since you are applying for K1 visa, your file is not going to sit at NVC for long , they should ship your file to local consulate quite quickly . Check the K1 processing timeline , I think you are quite okay if you applying now.

Hope this help. :goofy:

Thank you for your reply. When you said you got your approval in one day, does that mean you were approved one day after you applied online? I'm concerned if I applied too early and it got expired before the interview.. Because I heard there are people who had waited months and even years to even get the interview :(

Yes. I submitted my online request on 28 ( sat) and got my approval on 30 Sep(mon). As per few conversation with the officer in charge , they mentioned usually it take one to two weeks time to process , cases that required longer processing time should be some complicated background or some criminal record which required manual search .

Have you got your case number ? Very sorry I'm not familiar with k1 process so may not able to advise on best time to process . Beside the waiting time for interview schedule , the rest of NVC process should move relative quick comparing with CR1 visa .

All the best to you ;)
