hi members, sorry if this question has been asked before,

I am about to file all my documents and I'm wondering if on the affidavit of support if the taxes i filled last year are below the poverty guidelines does this mean i would need the assets to support even if I have received a pay increase taking me above the poverty line this year.

so basically what im saying is that last year my annual income was $14,586 and this year it is $24,500 does this make me qualify above the poverty guidelines or do they work that out by the last filled taxes???

thank you for your help

How long have you had the new job, and can you produce paystubs and a letter from the employer stating it is a stable, permanent job?

Which country are you going through (some embassies are picker than others)?

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

You are filing in the US, but there is the beneficiary? Which country?

The affadavit of support is only needed at NVC stage and closely scrutinised at the interview i the home country of the beneficiary, not before. The good news is, if you haven't even started petitioning for the visa yet, it will be well into next year by the time the I-864 becomes relevant, and you will have a year's tax return with the new salary.

Thank you, for your reply, the beneficiary is in the states as well, that's what I meant, but I have revisited the form and instructions and its like what you said earlier with having more proof of the new income
