US Passport Renewal In The Philippines - How?

Hello everyone!

My daughter's US passport is expiring on May 2015. We fly back to the US on April 2015. We are currently based in the Philippines. My question is, will her US passport still good for the upcoming trip, given that it has only a month and a half before it expires? or should I need to renew it before our trip? If so, what will be the process? This will be my first time renewing a US passport in the Philippines.

The passport should still be good for non-stop travel to the US. The "6 month rule" should not apply since you're flying to the US on a US passport. However, you might have to convince the airline ticket agent at the airport about that. Also if you have any connecting flights through countries other than the US, they might not let you board the airplane with less than 6 months validity.

I've renewed my Passport via the Embassy before. Bring her old/expiring passport to the Embassy or any proof of Citizenship and renew it at ACS (American Citizen Services). I forgot how long it took, but it was faster than when I renewed it in the States before. I heard that renewals at overseas post have priority. Definitely under a month. Under two weeks if I remember right, but that was on the old passport. My current passport that I renewed doesn't have the microchip/biometric symbol on the cover.
