Ok peek out of the window of the tiny bus and I will break it down slow for you

The thread is -"Dozens Of Volunteers Have Come Back Safe From Ebola Hot Zone" "implying there is no danger" "a complete lie"

I replied "paraphrased for simpler understanding- No  Hundreds have been infected and over 100 have died"

You agreed but posted a wall of text on why they are getting infected. You do understand that is not what we are discussing.

Thanks for agreeing

Agree with what? That hundreds of (third world) volunteers have been infected and many have died? What's there to agree with? That's a fact. But in this thread, based on the OP, we're talking about US volunteers. For that population, the numbers look radically different. We had a handful of infections and ZERO deaths among US volunteers. None. Not one fatality.

So what we have here now are two different discussions - the one that is anchored in the OP article about US volunteers and the low infection and zero fatality rates among them and the one that you would rather have about volunteers largely from third world countries where the picture ain't so bright. I understand that you want to talk about the latter since it better feeds your preferred narrative. But the OP in this thread specifically discusses US volunteers and the very low infection rates and the zero fatality rate that we're looking at for that population. So that should be the discussion in this thread. If you want to talk about something else, then you should maybe start a thread with the appropriate article to kick it off.

Feel free to read the above paragraph as many times as it may take you to get it.

Of course, making a common sense assumption is overruled by desire to be as condescending as possible.

If you understand the driving impulse behind the majority of your posts, why do you keep doing it? Surely you can curb it?

Why do you feel this constant need to try to get one over on me? Give it up. Jeez...

Look. This pointless back and forth might provide the feeling that it's belittling and shaming people, but trust me. It really is a one way street ;-)

Kinda gets under your skin when others emulate you this way, doesn't it?

The summary is this:

If you are infected in a western country with access to modern healthcare your chances of survival are very high compared to a 3rd world nation.

did you ever tell us your beef with Amazon. You may have. I got old timers

I don't think so. Its related to the actions amazon has taken against Hachette which is one of 5 major publishers (maybe four now?) left.

that's a crumb, give us a whole slice of bread

Yeah I don't agree with what Amazon is doing there. Exactly why a corporate monopoly is a bad idea.

On a positive note...

Among those who have been infected: SIM’s Nancy Writebol and Dr. Rick Sacra, Dr. Kent Brantly of Samaritan’s Purse, Dr. Craig Spencer of Doctors Without Borders and an as-yet unclear workman with a World Health Organization. None has putrescent anyone else. Two nurses who treated Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian entrance to settle in a United States, were putrescent and have recovered.

The box of Kaci Hickox, a helper volunteering with Doctors Without Borders who was forcibly quarantined by initial New Jersey and now Maine on her lapse from Sierra Leone, has polarized a United States. Governors like New Jersey’s Chris Christie have unapologetically pronounced they’ll do what they contingency to strengthen their states’ citizens. But spreading illness experts including many who have treated tangible Ebola patients disapprove of these measures, observant they go too distant and will daunt volunteers only as they are many needed.

“You know we truly trust that this process is not scientifically nor constitutionally just, so we am not going to lay around and be bullied by politicians and forced to stay in my home when we am not a risk to a American public,” Hickox told NBC’s Kate Snow in an interview.

So health officials in Maine contend they’ll seek a justice order to make Hickox stay home, even yet she has no symptoms of Ebola, competence not ever get it, and is of no risk to anyone.

“We trust that there’s no basis, no justification, for such an order, though if a sequence is postulated in a subsequent day or two, we will fly adult to Maine and we will plea that order. Kaci told us if that happens we should go to justice to obtain her freedom, and we will do that,” her attorney, Normal Siegel, said.

Other states are holding a milder approach. Texas sent a arch health officer, Dr. David Lakey, to hail a returning helper on Wednesday. And Governor Rick Perry called a nurse, who wasn’t named.

“In Texas, we have a good tradition of welcoming a heroes behind home and this drastic particular deserves a appreciation, a compassion, and a pinnacle respect,” Perry pronounced in a statement. “The extensive work that she and so many other health caring workers are doing in West Africa is creation life improved for those in cheerless countries and helps strengthen a rest of a universe from a widespread of this terrible disease; they are doing undeniably critical work that creates us all proud.”

The helper has concluded to self-quarantine and is being lavished with regard in return.

“This health caring favourite has done a good scapegoat in roving abroad to apportion to those who are suffering,” Perry said. “Even now home in Texas, she continues to denote her selflessness by similar to quarantine herself and serve strengthen her associate Texans.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says even that’s not necessary. All anyone returning from West Africa needs to do is self-monitor. People who cared for patients though protection, or those who had defenceless hit with a patient, should stay home, though nurses who wore stable rigging don’t tumble into this difficulty and should simply be closely watched, a CDC advises.

Some states, such as California, are following these guidelines.

“Not everybody who has been to an Ebola influenced area should be deliberate high risk,” pronounced California Department of Public Health executive Dr. Ron Chapman.

But even a sovereign supervision is holding several approaches. The State Department pronounced Wednesday it will not levy a sweeping 21-day siege duration for State Department employees returning from Ebola-affected countries.

But Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Wednesday authorized a recommendation that all U.S. infantry returning from Ebola missions be kept in isolation. There are now 42 U.S. soldiers in quarantine during a formidable in Vicenza, Italy. Another organisation is scheduled to arrive there on Friday, bringing a sum series to 75.

More importantly from your source:

"Several factors help explain the high proportion of infected medical staff. These factors include shortages of personal protective equipment or its improper use, far too few medical staff for such a large outbreak, and the compassion that causes medical staff to work in isolation wards far beyond the number of hours recommended as safe."

Which is why we have to think about ways to bring more help and expertise into the impacted area. That's not accomplished with forced quarantines, travel bans or other such hysterical nonsense, though. That sort of bullshite only achieves the opposite. I must say that I am quite positively surprised that the governor of Texas appears to get it. If only he could have a positive impact on the right wing nutters around this country on this issue....
