Hello,

I am trying to find some information on what is understood by "participation in a Military Unit" (Question 15, A). Does a mandatory military service (non-US) count as such?

In the same regard, question 19 is asking about any military or weapons training. As the military service in my home country used to be mandatory years ago, I assume it shouldn't be a problem to answer "Yes" and provide clarification on a separate sheet, but I would really like to know if anyone has been through this recently and how did the interview go. Did this cause any additional questions or problems?

Thank you!

Yes and yes.

This shouldn't be a problem; many countries have a mandatory draft.

I would attach a note explaining that you were completing your mandatory military service.

Many people from Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Korea, and many other countries get naturalized every year despite this issue, so don't worry.
