Starting a graduate program during the application process

Hey everyone. I'm new here. I was hoping someone could help me with a question I have.

My fiance is from Peru and is finishing up her Master's degree this fall. She is trying to get into a PhD program at a different university next fall and has to apply soon, but we would like to get married at the end of November and start the process to adjust her status to permanent residency. If she were accepted to the program (sometime in February/March) would that interfere with the green card application process? Conversely, would being in the process of adjusting status affect her paperwork at the university were she to be accepted? Because she will not be taking classes in the spring, I think she would need a new F1 visa until her green card is approved. (Even though the expiration on her current F1 is in 2017, her current I-20 expires in early December). If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

check in the DSO at her current school and at her new school, get their inputs.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
