Is the W2 Form mandatory if you have the Tax Return?

Hi All,

Our interview is already scheduled for October 30. I thought my fiance had his W2 form but turns out he doesn't. But he has a copy of his recent income tax return, pay stubs, and the employer letter. His Annual Income is well over 125% of the threshold. Will these documents suffice even without the W2? (Hoping that it is)

But if the W2 is mandatory, and we can only get the W2 transcript online (because waiting for it to be mailed will not meet the interview date), will this online transcript be acceptable?

You can show, one or the other, or both if you like.... the online income tax return transcript from the IRS website or if you don't have access to the transcript online a hard copy of his income tax return which would include a w2 form. If the the w2 form is missing, he can print an online version through his work or save it as a pdf and email it to you so you can print it and put along with his copy of the 2013 tax return form.

I don't think it is a big deal to show copies as most people here in the US only keep copies of the original tax return submitted to the IRS. I submitted both a copy of my 2013 tax return with the w2 printed from my employer's website and the 2013 tax return trasncrip from the IRS website and I had no issues.

W2 scanned copies are good enough for interview.. recently i had my interview and i was given 221(g) for my Joint sponsor W2 as he is filing taxes jointly.. better u must carry all docs to avoid delay... if they required any I864 forms those must be ORIGINALs.
