Hi,

At what point exactly do we have to fill out the DS-160 and schedule an interview at the consulate?

Is it once we have the case number from NVC? (I know for Ukraine it starts with KEV)

Or do we have to wait for the embassy to receive the case before we can schedule an interview?

Thank you in advance!

You can't even take medical exam until case is in Kyiv, and you have case number which will start with KEVxxxxxx. The notification is a piece of paper that needs to taken to the clinic at the time of exam

DS-160 can be completed anytime after your receive NOA2 as the receipt number on this form will be needed for the DS-160.

After medical, and DS-160 done...then schedule interview.

Doesn't NVC give you the KEV number? Even before they send it out to the embassy.

NVC does give you KEV number over the phone, but as Todd said, your fiancee needs to show paper that shows KEV number. Plus I also do strongly recommend not to rush and wait until case is at the embassy, just to be on a safe side.

Plus, if you read some of my old reviews of medial in Kiev, some people were surprised with TB X-rays that were making it impossible to go to the interview at the embassy.....until TB was screened better. (I do not state in any case that your fiancee has a TB!! but lungs of some people were not clear.... but again.......just for your own safety).

DS form and interview itself is the fastest thing from the whole K-1 process.
