I was born in the US and have only lived here. I have a steady job and lived at the house I've purchased for over 5 years now.

He is from Croatia and we have been together 4 years, married for 6 months.

We decided to go ahead and get married because we were sick of waiting on the lottery or him finding a job to move here.

We figured we could wait it out a while longer to work through the visa process, but something about being married makes it so much harder to be apart!

What would be the best route for us to file?

We've filled out the family visa paperwork and planned to mail it in, but will that be the best option? I wanted to ask someone experienced first.

I am the petitioner, he still lives overseas

At this stage, your spouce qualifies the CR visa, for you're already married.

Check out the guide in this link: http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides

Good luck!!

p.s. the process should take approximately 12 months and there is no faster visa for him.

Its pretty much the only route for him now. All other available methods would take longer and/or only be temporary in nature.

Ah OK thanks. I'll be back with questions about the process once we have it all sorted.
