Pakistan Police Certificate is NOT required.

Hello all,

I just wanted to inform you all from Pakistan that you are not required to have the police certificate as it is unavailable in Pakistan. Unavailable, because Pakistan does not have a proper system that tracks any criminal activities. Anyone can go from one city to another and get it without issues.

I have spoken to a representative at NVC, checked the Islamabad consulate website and also the US immigration site and all say that it is not available, hence not required.

So once you send in your AOS package, the coversheet has a list of documents you have to send in and check off whether it's Enclosed, unavailable or not applicable. You MUST check off the "unavailable" category for th police certificate.

Are you absolutely sure about this? Like they don't ask for it even during the interview? I am a little confused because members here say that they did go ahead and get it... so I was wondering if not required than why bother with it at all?

Yes, I have read it on official website that it is not required for beneficiaries of spousal visa from Pakistan. But shouldnt we check off the "not applicable" category in the coversheet check list rather than "not applicable"?

did any of you get away with not including a police certificate in ur IV package? Im really confused. I have read it on the official website but i thought why not just add it in there. But its taking alot of time! and this is the only thing that is holding me from submitting my documents :/

It's not required. I didn't include it and I even called and asked and I was not it's not needed.

I would recommend skipping the Police Clearance Certificate and submit your documets without it. It shouldnt create any problems in the visa process.

Thank you guys, at first i thought i would NOT include it. I read some posts here on VJ that its better to add it rather than getting an rfe later. But its actually taking time for me, already have wasted around 5 days for this PCC.. if i dont get it in the next 2 days, im planning to send it without the PCC. I wanted to be 100% sure regarding this, if you being Pakistanis got through NVC without it then I guess im confident enough now to send my package without it :)

You guys didnt even need it for the interview?

I marked it as not available. Had no issues. The interview letter did say to bring it but NVC said it isn't needed. My husbands interview is in a couple of weeks, will find out for sure.

Also, since you're deciding to get it.. Make sure the pictures are with a white background. I've noticed people got the certificate with blue background pictures and they were not accepted. Even though it's not required, some people do take it to the interview.

Oh okay, yes i will mark it either not available or not applicable. Since checking either of it didnt create issues so i think im good to go. Yess actually im just going to wait 2 or 3 days more. If I dont get it, i think im not going to waste more time for something thts not even required anymore :/

Good luck for your husband's interview! May i ask how much time it took after case complete for your case to be transferred from nvc to islamabad? and then how long did islamabad embassy take to schedule his app? TIA
