I have 2 violations in the past. First is a speeding ticket which was driving 43 over the limit (98 on a 55) but was dismissed by court as it was my first ticket and I did community service. No fine was imposed, I was not arrested or detained. Should I take evidence for that and what all do I take ? Secondly I have a class A misdemeanor for retail theft from 6 years ago (Dec 2008). I'll take the court records stating it was reduced to municipal citation and I only paid a fine, no jail time. Would this record impact my application in a big way ?

Will this impact your application?

Probably. You'll need to show evidence that both incidents were dealt with appropriately.

In a big way?

Probably not. You'll probably be asked about these in the interview and you may not get a decision right away because they may want to look into these events (especially the second one) further. However, since the more serious incident was over 5 years ago, I don't think it will cause anything more than a delay in your approval.
