Hi all. We are currently preparing the documents necessary for filing our CR-1. My questions are:

1. When did you submitted police certificate? Was is during the interview day or do you mail it prior to the release of interview date?

2. Im in Qatar for work for over a year now and it would take me some time to get one here. We got married in Manila. Does it mean I have to get a police certificate from the Philippines and Qatar?

thanks in advance for those who will answer. :goofy:

1. You submit one copy of the police certificate at the NVC stage of processing. Retain another certified copy for your medical check, as you will need it there too.

2. You need the police certificate from anywhere you have lived in the past year.

Good luck!

Thanks @degreening ! :)

Not a problem. Very good luck! You should start a timeline to keep track of your processing stats and to get a good idea of when things will be ready by: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/intro.php

Not quite correct on the second part I'm afraid.

You must obtain, if available, a police certificate for any country that you've lived in for 12 months or more since age 16. I have yet to hear of a police certificate being needed for a medical.

Go to the reciprocity table on the NVC website to find out how to get the police certificate for each country you require one from.

Hrm that's interesting and the first I've heard of it but it must be specific to Kingsbridge. I know I did not, and nor has any other Canadian have to, bring a police certificate to a medical. I have not heard of other countries having to do it either but it would be interesting to find out if there are others.

Mostly, however, I was correcting your other little bit of information about places lived in the last year only needing a police certificate. It is anyplace you have lived, where available, for 12 months or more, since you were 16.

Yeah, it's weird. I think I heard that it was for any prior drug convictions so they'd know whether to do urine tests.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Well Knightsbridge is the only one in the UK that does it, so it must be standard for UK. Wonder why we're the only ones? Interesting!
