Hello everyone,

I'm the Petitioner and I'm green card holder

I'm applying for my wife which she is the Beneficiary

My PD: 26-SEP-2013 Country: EGYPT

I received Case No. and IIN from NVC but I can't do any further progress and I found I'm not the only one.

Anyway,I have a couple of question before NVC start work with my case:

1. Step 1. Choose an Agent:

Does it mean, I can be the agent and do every thing for my wife instead of her?

Is DS-261 form for choose an agent only?

2. Form DS-260 is suppose to be for who? Petitioner or Beneficiary or both??

If it for my wife "Beneficiary" , Can I fill it for her or what?

Thanks for everyone

Hopefully hear good news soon

1. Yes DS-261 is to choose an agent. Generally the petitioner is always chosen as the agent except if you have a lawyer attached to your case file from the beginning of the process.

2. DS-260 is all about the beneficiary and yes the petitioner can fill it for the beneficiary.

Hi,

The current PD is FEB 2013, so it may be a few more months before you can proceed with processing. New visas are issued on October 15 I believe when the new fiscal year starts, so it may be sooner.

The DS261 is to choose someone who will receive all paperwork for the case. It can be anyone you choose, but it's usually the petitioner because receiving mail in the US is usually better.

The DS260 is for the beneficiary, as already mentioned. Also you want to fill out with your wife on the phone or gather the info beforehand because they ask for a lot of stuff. There are also documents she will need on hand such as passport, national id.

This does not constitute legal advice.
