All it needs is the CO seeing a pic of you in a wedding dress, or you refering to eachother as husband and wife in an email/on FB, or a friend or neighbour or co-worker mentioning being at your wedding during background checks... don;t risk it.

You need to ask yourself if it's worth it to lose the fee for the K1 petition, get married and file a new petition with another fee, and then on top of that wait longer in order to be together. The CR1 process will mean that you will spend more time apart and it's not worth it when you can get the K1, especially if it's already underway.

As mentioned before, getting married in April means that you wouldn't be able to submit the spouse petition until then, by which time your K1 petition may already be on it's way to the embassy. The choice is completely yours, I just wanted you to be aware of the extra wait you would face. Good luck.

This does not constitute legal advice.

Everybody has told you "the same thing".,.,.,.,if you have any "kind of ceremony".,.,.,..,IT IS A MARRIAGE!

IF you do get married and start a spousal visa, YOU WILL have many problems.,.,.,.,and you will go from 6 months approval, to 12-15 months!

You will lose your money!

Are you prepared, to leave K-1, 5-6 months..,.,.,..and start all over over a ceremony? That is what you must ask yourself.

To me.,.,..,.,you would be foolish to do this, as you have so much time and money invested..,.,..,.,just to "please a few family members".,.,..,in this case you need to be selfish.,..,.,and consider what is best for you and your spouse..,.,.,me and my wife had an engagement party.,.,.,.""""(NO CEREMONY OF ANT KIND)""" and it was a grand time for all, just fun, dance and plenty to eat and about 300 people there.,.,.,.but ""NO CEREMONY< NO CHURCH"""..,.,.,.,.,.,

Just my opinion, you decide what is the most important to you both! A ceremony 1 time, and cost you 15 months, or keep your K-1?
