I have a question about whether we need a change of name form or not.

My fiance was born in Ghana, then moved to Nigeria when he was 2, and went by a slightly different name (it sounded more Nigerian.) Then at the age of 8, he moved back to Ghana and resumed his original name, except for in school (they didn't want to possibly screw up his transcripts by changing it back.) The name that is currently on his passport is the same that is on his Ghanaian birth certificate. And that is what we filed under. I did include the Nigerian name on the I-129f form as an alternative name. But do we still need to attain a change of name form for the K-1?

I think you did fine with filing under the birth certificate and passport name. African's commonly go by other names but for immigration purposes you do want the name filed under to match his passport. And identifying the alternative name is correct too. With Nigerians, keeping up with all the names they use for themselves and each other is something else!! I really don't think you need to worry!
