So my fiancé and I have applied for our k-1 visa and are going through the process. My question more or less pertains to the CRBA... Any tips on how to go through it? We are going to have to apply soon after our son is born. His father is the American citizen on the k-1. It was also an unplanned pregnancy, so I'm just looking for a way to make it as simple as possible for a new mom (me) as I have been filling out most of our forms.

It doesn't matter when you apply for it, but you obviously want to do it soon after the baby is born. This way you can ensure you can have his passport in time. I'm not sure how long the process is to receive CRBA, but I would assume it's fairly quick.

Here is a link from the Toronto embassy, if you will apply in another consulate then you can look it up at travel.state.gov and in the top right corner click to find embassies and consulates:
