You should be just fine, it usually takes a couple weeks to get the file from NVC to USEM and in the system. I usually tell people if they schedule the interview about a month out from when then get the MNL# all should go very well.

Doesn't matter which box is checked, I didn't check either box when I did the I-134. As long as you have a copy of his most recent tax return and W-2 and his gross income at least meets the poverty guidelines of the I-864P all should be fine.
