Best way to purchase my round trip ticket and her 1 way ticket

So, have any of you petitioners gone over to the Philippines to bring your fiancé back to the U.S.?

If so, how did you go about buying your round trip ticket and her one way ticket so you were both on the same flight from Manila?

Most of the online ticket websites don't really have a way to do this, at least that I can find.

Just curious if anyone has had luck doing this without paying way more than the normal street price for airfare.

Thanks.

I/we didn't want to leave anything to chance so we used a brick and mortar travel agency, (Ran by Filipinos)

so I can't really speak as to how to DIY.

They agency handled everything...including advance seat assignments and we had zero problems. Our ticket prices

weren't any greater than what we'd paid in the past.

Good luck and welcome to your fiancé!

Regards

Yup, I was there for the interview, then we spend a couple months after that visiting and just goofing off.

I could not buy my wife's one way ticket along with my round trip ticket online, I ended up calling the airlines to get the one way ticket booked on the same flight and get our seating handled. The pricing was the same as what was online so I had no complaints.

Find the airline you like, and give their office a call. Or just book them both online, watching the details carefully to be sure you've got the same flights, then call to get seats together if you can't find any online.

That's the way I was going to do it anyway.

Other option, buy a one way there, and 2 one ways back. If you're gonna go for the interview, make sure your return trip can be rescheduled, should the visa take longer to be issued than expected. If you've already got your visa in hand, well that's covered then.

Yeah, one-way is definitely more expensive. The best price I've found for the end of October is Japan Airlines - JAL - I think right now you can get a round trip from Los Angeles for only $559.00 and her one-way return from Manila to LAX with me is $683.00.

I just bought tickets yesterday. I used a local Filipino travel agency.

It is so complicated. I couldn't do it online. Also, if I booked online with a credit card, I was told they would need to show that credit card at the airport at check-in.

I purchased all my tickets online Wednesday night. I used priceline.com to buy my round trip ticket on Delta from Seattle, WA to Manila via Tokyo. Then went on Delta's website to by my fiancé's one way ticket on the same flight from Manila to Seattle. Was able to choose our seats together with no problem. Her one-way was almost the same price as my round trip - but we are all set....

Just to add my experience... I am in the Philippines now and will be flying back tomorrow with my Fiance. I always fly United and buy my tickets on United's, or their partner ANA's website. United does not fly all the way to Manila, so I always have a connecting ANA flight from Tokyo to Manila. Sometimes online, United cannot confirm/reserve ANA seats so then I need to buy the tickets on ANA's site. This time however, United's site worked so I simply bought a round trip ticket for me and immediately after bought a one way for my fiance. I then made sure I picked seats next to each other on both airline's websites. That was it. My round trip ticket from Chicago to Manila was about $1200 and my Fiance's one way was about $800. I expected the one way to be as much or more, but it wasn't.
