Hey guys I've received two emails 2 days apart one the 27th Aug and one today 29 Aug both stating the same thing that my EAD has been sent for production.

While I know this seems to be the norm for people what my question is does that mean it was sent out today? Or has it just finished being made? I keep finding very conflicting results on a multitude of websites so if anyone is able to clear that up for me it would be great :) thanks guys

Everybody is probably speculating on the meaning but nobody really knows for sure. Forget about it and enjoy your weekend knowing you will have a card soon. Your brain is on overload trying to micro-analyze down to hours and days.

Hey and I saw your post about SSN. Don't expect to run down to SSA the day you get the EAD card and get a number. Your status as work authorized has to trickle down from USCIS to SSA. Showing the EAD gets you nowhere if your name isn't found in the database. If they don't find your name, they tell you they will have to manually verify your status with USCIS. That's a real slow road. Better to say nevermind and go back in a week to try again. Or wait a full week before going the first time.

And you don't need an I-94. K1s get a SSN based on their unexpired I-94 and their visa category. Your eligibility for a SSN is based on having an EAD CARD, not an I-94.

Thank you for your advice especially with the SSN processing times.

I would like to say however I am not K1 I'm adjusting from a vwp overstay. Will that make any difference?

I know you are not a K1. That was an example of why you might have read about people taking an I-94. They need an unexpired one if they wish to get a SSN as soon as they arrive. You weren't allowed one because you are a different category. There was some discussion in your other thread and you told somebody where to get theirs. Not useful to have it if expired.

Having an EAD CARD like yourself is a different way to be allowed a SSN. Until you get that card in your hand and your name/status populates the SAVE database, your application will not go through.

Ahh I understand now :P I was just going on the basis of the more proof you have about who you are the less chance the officer at the SSA would say "hey you don't have all the required documents" sorry if I had caused any co fusion :)
