Interview to prove marriage

I just recently received a very strange letter in the mail stating I had an interview on August 25, 2014. It states me and beneficiary need to report for an interview and prove our marriage is legit. We have been married for almost 12 years and have 3 children. What is there to prove? My name is also spelled wrong on this letter and it doesn't appear to be official. Can someone please give me some feedback.

where is your foreign spouse today? in usa or not in usa ?

if not in usa, I suggest you go to the interview anyway,

and bring all of the evidence listed in the 6 types of evidence section from the I-130 instructions.

Usually, if this occurs prior to I-130 approval, there's something terribly wrong with the casefile and the adjudicator is giving you (the USCitizen) a chance to correct it in a 'hand over from your hand to my hand' setting.

These types of interviews are rare, fwiw, but do happen.
